Back to School Backpack Drive

When crisis strikes, many times, education is put to the side. Or, when one, or both parents are incarcerated, it’s no surprise that a young person acts out and struggles in their educational environment. Or, when a young adult is homeless, and the purchasing of food competes with tuition or school supplies, it’s obvious which will come first.

We believe in supporting our teens, young adults, and families, and helping them keep education a priority. A huge way to elevate the burden of education is by providing our teens, young adults, and families with the needed school supplies.

YMCA Safe Place Services accepts school supplies and backpacks for young in middle and high school and backpacks for homeless young adults age 18 -24. We host an annual Back to School Backpack Drive every summer. Please contact Dave Brennan at, or 502.635.4404, to learn more about the items needed, and how you can support our teens in their education by hosting a Back to School Backpack Drive at your organization or business.
